Dixiletta Moving Pictures has announced the title of their feature documentary spotlighting homelessness in Maricopa County. “The Road Back Home” follows the lives of five individuals struggling with life on the streets.
Producers Dixie Cook and Robert Felix have been working for the past two years with One Step Away in creating public outreach campaign designed at breaking the negative stigma’s surrounding homelessness. “Homelessness is a condition” says co-producer Robert Felix, “not a type of person.”
“The Road Back Home” is in its final stages of post-production and is set for theatrical release May 17, 2012 at the Scottsdale 101 Harkins. It will also be aired May 31st, 2012 on NBC 12 at 7pm.
The Premiere was awesome; the production was so well done. The dignity and respect exemplified in your work was heart warming. Thank you for capturing the intent and doing it so beautifully.
Thank you so much, Bonnie! Of course, the story of how you were able to help be a part of the solution with Gen was so moving. Thank you for sharing that with us. Were a lot of people able to watch it on TV?
While, I am not a big television watcher, last night I was scanning through the stations and your documentary on the homelessness in Maricopa County grabbed my attention. I stood there watching to the very end. I was so impressed with every aspect of this program. This is not your typical “woe is me” or “give me a hand out” type of program. I hope there are plans to get this documentary out again.
Thank you, Kodi. I’m so glad you saw it! There are plans to do various screenings around town, and potentially television screenings as well. I hope that many people are able to be moved to become part of the solution. Also, our website is still under construction, but we hope to have some more good information up soon.
